Tyska ordens strid mot Vitaliebröderna 1398

Stämningsfull film om hur Tyska orden år 1398 slog till mot Gotland för att krossa Vitaliebröderna, som hade gjort ön till bas för sjöröveri under konflikterna mellan Mecklenburg och drottning Margareta. Under ledning av Konrad von Jungingen landsteg ordensstyrkorna och anföll Vitaliebröderna.

In 1398, the Teutonic Knights sailed to the island of Gotland to rid the Baltic of the scourge of piracy: a brotherhood of sea thieves called the Victual Brothers (Vitalian Brethren). Embroiled in the regional disputes between Queen Margaret of Denmark and her rivals, the Teutonic Order were forced to act swiftly against the castles and harbors of the pirates. This is the 1398 knights vs. pirates war.
